Project Summary

The 33rd & Dauphin Bus Loop Improvement Project has brought a new look to a heavily travelled loop. This loop serves as the terminus or start for Routes 7, 39 and 54. The loop indirectly serves Route 32 along 33rd Street and Route 61 along Ridge Avenue. The project included renovating the existing corner building to include a modest rental space; rebuilding the bus canopy; and replacing the roof, plumbing and heating and ventilation system. We also salvaged the brick and used it to restore the new building. The building has a new operator restroom and storage facility. We repaired and painted the decorative cornice trim and repointed the masonry. New benches, trash cans, signage and bike racks were also installed.

The new facility has a green roof-a first in the authority's renovation projects. It also has a balustrade similar to the original when trolleys used the facility.
