8-14-2013| Old Track Materials Demolished

Work continues along the Bridgeport Viaduct repair project and SEPTA continues to make important progress demolishing much of the old track materials, installing a system of safety nets, and completing key electrical installments to rehabilitate the 3,175-foot-long bridge.

Over the last few weeks, crews have demolished much of the track timbers that once lined the bridge and removed old railing and the fiberglass walkway. The installation of new ties and rails continues along with the installation of a new fiberglass grating for the walkway.

In addition, cable tray supports and installation along the Viaduct was completed. Demolition of the existing cable that spanned the bridge is ongoing.
