2017 Independence Day Service Information

On Independence Day (Tuesday, July 4th), SEPTA Transit service and Regional Rail Trains will operate on a Sunday schedule, with special late night Regional Rail service following the fireworks on the Ben Franklin Parkway (see schedule below).

Below, we've included the information you need to help get you to and from all of this year's main events along with tips and helpful links to other areas of the septa.org website.

TIP: Customers should check System Status before and during Independence Day events for real-time service information across the SEPTA System. The System Status tool is available on the website and on the official SEPTA app for iPhone and Android devices. You can also follow @SEPTA on Twitter.

Late Night Regional Rail Service & Extended Ticket Office Hours | Tuesday, July 4, 2017

Select Regional Rail trains will be added to the service schedule or held later than regularly scheduled for customers leaving Center City Philadelphia after the fireworks and concert on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

Late night trains will serve Airport terminals, Chestnut Hill East, Chestnut Hill West, Doylestown, Fox Chase, Malvern, Media/Elwyn, Marcus Hook, Trenton, Warminster, West Trenton, and Wilmington Stations.

ALL other Regional Rail Station Ticket Offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4th

Event Detours:

Bus Routes 7, 32, 33, 38, 43, and 48 will operate on a temporary detour in the area surrounding the Ben Franklin Parkway beginning Tuesday, July 4 at 4:00 a.m. and continuing until 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

Specific Route detour information will be published on System Status prior to the event.

Additional detours will also be in effect due to various Wawa Welcome America events throughout the City on Thursday, June 29th, Friday, June 30th, Saturday, July 1st, Sunday, July 2nd, and Monday, July 3rd. Please visit System Status for additional detour information.

Broad Street & Market-Frankford Line Service

Additional Broad Street and Market Frankford Line Trains will be placed into service before and after events on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Details will be posted on the Broad Street Line Sports Express page.

Travel Tips

  • Check your schedule Tuesday, July 4 as Buses, Trains, and Trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule due to the holiday.

  • The Ben Franklin Parkway is best accessed from the 15th Street Market-Frankford Line Station and Race-Vine or City Hall Broad Street Line Station
