PROJECT DETAILS

SEPTA is implementing a transformational fare collection system to better serve riders who collectively take more than 300 million trips each year. The new payment technologies will replace SEPTA's legacy system of tokens, tickets, and paper transfers with a streamlined system that applies best practices from the broader consumer payments arena to transit fare payment.

For customers, this new payment system will be more convenient, secure, reliable, and easy to understand. It will also allow for seamless travel across all SEPTA services and permits regional integration with other transit authorities. For SEPTA, the new technology will provide more complete and accurate revenue accountability and enable the authority to reduce operating and maintenance costs.
