Students

Student fares are available to all School Districts within the SEPTA service area, and the School District in which the student resides is responsible for the students transportation to and from school, within guidelines set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

School Tokens: School tokens are valid for one trip on any SEPTA bus, trolley, or subway lines.  They are not valid for use on Regional Rail Train service.  School tokens are only valid for use for travel to/from school and may be used by students attending kindergarten through Grade 12. (School Tokens are not available in Philadelphia, as the District has elected to provide weekday student passes.)

Weekday Student Passes: Weekday Student Passes are valid for trips on multiple SEPTA bus, trolley, or subway lines.  They are not valid for use on Regional Rail Train service.  These passes can only be used by students for their travel to/from school, between the hours of 5:30am and 7:00pm. These passes are valid only on days in which school is in session.

Weekday Student Pass Upgrade for Regional Trains: (Weekday Student Passes cannot be upgraded to a Weekly TransPass.)
For students using Regional Rail Train service, the Weekday Student Pass may be upgraded to a Zone 1, Zone 2 or Zone 3 Weekly TrailPass.  This can be done at any Regional Rail Ticket Office, located within the geographic boundaries of the city of Philadelphia.  Upgrades must be completed between the Wednesday before and Tuesday of the valid week of the weekday student pass.
The Student surrenders their weekday pass and receives a credit of $3.13 for each valid day of the pass, towards the purchase of a weekly TrailPass. The student must conduct the upgrade, not the parent or guardian.

School Districts are responsible for establishing student fare use and pricing.

For complete details about student fares, Parents and Guardians should contact the Administrator at the student‘s school!
