December 4, 2020 SEPTA Key introduces Amtrak/NJT Ticket Bar Code Scanners

Starting Friday, December 4, 2020, the barcode scanner to validate Amtrak and NJT tickets will go into service at select SEPTA Key ADA gates at the five Center City Regional Rail Stations.

Customers traveling with a valid/activated printed or electronic Amtrak or NJT ticket must use the barcode scanner to validate their fare when traveling to/from one of the five (5) SEPTA Center City Regional Rail Stations - Penn Medicine, 30th St, Suburban, Jefferson, and Temple.

Tips for Using Amtrak/NJT Tickets at SEPTA Center City Regional Rail Stations:

  • Electronic-based tickets must be activated prior to validating at the SEPTA Key barcode reader
  • Paper and/or electronic tickets must be validated at SEPTA Key ADA gates for entry/exit to one of the SEPTA Regional Rail Stations listed above
  • If a paper and/or electronic ticket will not scan at entry, please go to the Amtrak/NJT phone-based application or ticket machine for assistance
  • If a paper and/or electronic ticket will not scan at exit, please go to the SEPTA Key EXIT Fare Kiosk and purchase an EXIT Quick Trip
