SEPTA Ready with Extra Service for Fourth of July Celebrations

Additions & Adjustments to Rail, Bus & Trolley Service

June 28, 2012

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA is ready to help riders avoid holiday traffic jams with service enhancements for Fourth of July celebrations.

Service will be added or adjusted on a number of SEPTA rail lines, bus routes and trolleys to accommodate holiday events beginning Saturday, June 30th, when fireworks and other festivities come to Penn's Landing. SEPTA will provide extra service on the Market-Frankford Line and Broad Street Line, and will add buses to routes that provide service to the Penn's Landing area.

Extra service will also be deployed on multiple modes of travel for the Welcome America concert and fireworks on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Wednesday, July 4th. Trips will be added on the Market-Frankford Line and Broad Street Line, and service will be bolstered on city trolley routes and some bus routes in Center City. In addition, SEPTA will add and adjust trains on Regional Rail to accommodate riders after the event, with a total of 15 trains departing Suburban Station between 11:30 p.m. and 12:35 a.m.

SEPTA bus riders should also expect detours due to road closures for holiday-related festivities - from the July 4th Parkway celebration to block parties and other community events.

SEPTA has launched a special section on its Website with full holiday weekend travel schedules and information, www.septa.org/events/holiday.html. SEPTA will also post real-time updates and any major service changes online.

Whether visiting a single day or the entire holiday in Philadelphia, visitors can enjoy freedom from additional fares by purchasing SEPTA's individual or family Independence Passes. Customers can repeatedly get on and off SEPTA's trains, buses and trolleys all day for one price. Passes, which can be purchased at SEPTA sales locations and on Regional Rail trains, are $11 (individual) and $28 (family). For complete details, visit www.septa.org/fares/pass/independence.html.
