SEPTA Key Fare Inspection Process Expands to Weekends at Suburban Station

Part of Transition to SEPTA Key on Regional Rail

November 15, 2018

In preparation for further expansion of the SEPTA Key, fare inspection at turnstiles will be expanded to Suburban Station on weekends between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. starting Saturday, Nov. 17. This will serve as a pilot program, and after SEPTA collects data and feedback from riders, it is expected that weekend turnstile fare inspection will be expanded to the other Center City Regional Rail stations.

Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekends at Suburban Station, customers must present one of the following prepaid fares for inspection to the SEPTA Key Fare Collection Ambassadors at the turnstiles before proceeding to the train platform:

  • SEPTA Key Card
  • SEPTA Key Senior Card/Current driver's license with magnetic stripe
  • SEPTA Key Reduced Fare Card
  • Legacy Magnetic Stripe SEPTA Pass
  • SEPTA Regional Rail Ticket

Customers with cash should purchase a ticket at the Suburban Station Sales Office before going to the fare line at the turnstiles. The Fare Collection Ambassadors will not punch or collect tickets; customers will still give tickets to the conductor on the train.
