Next Stop: Love!

There was no mistaking the destination of the Market-Frankford Line train as it pulled into 13th Street Station, with the sounds of the O'Jays pumping out of the speakers and brightly colored hearts filling the windows. SEPTA's fourth annual Love Train was on track.

On February 10, SEPTA, the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and WIRED 96.5 FM hosted people in love, people looking for love and art lovers for a romantic ride on the rails onboard a specially decorated Market-Frankford Line train with a perfect view of the Mural Arts Program's "A Love Letter for You Project".

The Love Letter Project's more than 50 murals tell the story of the artist's unrequited love for a woman named Barbara. But there was no unrequited love onboard the train - especially in car number six whose passengers were 14 of the Delaware valley's "cutest couples", as selected in a WIRED 96.5 FM contest.

Following the tour, the train returned to SEPTA's headquarters, where riders were treated to a reception emceed by WIRED personality Steve Tingle. Already lucky in love, guests hoped they would be fortunate enough to win prizes ranging from ski passes and museum exhibit tickets to the opportunity to see Rhianna and Lady Gaga in concert. Darla and her boyfriend, one of WIRED's cutest couples, took home the grand prize: a trip to Miami to see Lady Gaga in concert.

Chenita and Paul Brooks found special meaning in the Philadelphia Zoo passes Chenita won. "We've been married for 22 years, but met at the Zoo 30 years ago," said Chenita. "And the date the passes expire is the same date we met 30 years ago!"

For those who weren't able to catch the Love Train, or those who want to re-live the magic, watch WIRED-FM's video here.
