New Regional Rail Schedules Effective Sunday March 20, 2008 The new schedules are currently available on this site. Passengers will also be able to pick up new timetables at Market-East, Suburban and 30th Street Stations and SEPTA sales offices. Highlights for the upcoming changes include: *R1 Glenside/combined a new inbound train has been added to the weekday schedule and will depart Glenside Station at 6:51 a.m. This train will serve all inbound stations to Center City Philadelphia with the exception of North Broad Station. *R2 Warminster two new express trains have been added to weekday peak morning service. The first express train will leave Warminster Station at 6:17 a.m. making all stops to Glenside Station and then operate express service from Glenside to Temple University Station and all Center City Philadelphia stops. An additional express train will leave Warminster at 6:50 a.m. and make all stops to Jenkintown Station before operating express service to Temple and Center City Philadelphia. *R3 Media-Elwyn/West Trenton a new weekday peak morning express train will leave Elwyn Station at 8:15 a.m. and serve all stops to Secane Station.This train will then operate express service from Secane to Center City Philadelphia and arrive at Suburban Station at the same time as the current schedule. On weekdays the current inbound 6:14 a.m. train from West Trenton Station will depart West Trenton eight minutes earlier at 6:06 a.m. and will express between Jenkintown and Temple Stations. Also, the train currently scheduled to leave West Trenton Station at 6:47 a.m. will now leave five minutes earlier at 6:42 a.m. and operate local service between Jenkintown and Temple University Stations with the exception of North Broad. *R5 Lansdale-Doylestown/Paoli-Downingtown service adjustments have been made to peak hour morning trains in order to reduce overcrowding and improve train flow between Glenside and Wayne Junction. As a result, two new weekday express trains have been added to leave Lansdale Station at 6:20 a.m. and 6:49 a.m. The express trains will make all stops to Glenside Station and then express to Temple University. The new schedules also include the continuation of hourly midday inbound and outbound service on both segments on the R5 (Lansdale-Doylestown/Paoli-Downingtown) due to separate construction projects. *R6 Norristown there are no significant changes to the schedule, however, SEPTA will add over 700 seats by supplying extra cars during morning and evening peak hours in order to accommodate increased ridership and alleviate overcrowding. *R7 Trenton/Chestnut Hill East most weekday midday trains operating from 30th Street to Chestnut Hill East Station will be adjusted to operate 10 minutes later than current schedules due to an infrastructure construction project within Amtraks Zoo Interlocking. This project involves installing a new modern signal system, track and catenary in an area critical to SEPTA railroad operations. At the completion of all work, all SEPTA R5 Paoli, R6 Cynwyd, R7 Trenton and R8 Chestnut Hill West passengers will enjoy a quieter, smoother, and more comfortable ride as a result of the new cross ties and continuous welded rail installation. SEPTA customers will also experience increased travel speeds, reduced travel times, and enhanced service reliability. *R8 Chestnut Hill West/Fox Chase on weekdays midday train service will operate with increased running times due to construction. In addition, most weekday midday train service to Fox Chase will operate approximately 10 minutes later than on current schedules. All regional rail passengers should pick up new schedules and check for changes to their specific trains.
