SEPTA Construction to Close 60th St. Between Arch & Walnut Sts. SEPTA bus Route 46 will also be detoured as a result of the closure. Regular traffic patterns through the impacted area are anticipated to resume in approximately one year, although there will be times during the construction schedule when the area will be open on weekends. During this phase of the construction project, area businesses and shops will remain open and residents will have access to street parking where available. SEPTA bus Route 46 will be detoured as follows during the closure: • Southbound – El riders will exit the bus as usual at Arch Street and walk to 60th Street Station. The bus will then make a left on Arch, a right on 59th Street, and a right on Walnut Street to 60th Street before returning to its regular route. • Northbound – El riders will exit the bus at Chestnut Street for access to 60th Street Station. The bus will then make a right on Chestnut, a left on 58th Street, and a left on Race Street to 60th Street before returning to its regular route. Notices regarding the bus detour will be posted at regular stops along the bus route and temporary detour signs will be available to assist riders and residents. The MSE project is a major reconstruction and modernization overhaul of the El. The project includes a streamlined, single-beam support structure, six new customer-friendly stations, and art inspired architectural features that will improve the overall riding experience for passengers. SEPTA’s Community Information Center is open six days a week and is located at 5344 Chestnut Street to provide passengers, residents, and businesses with information regarding the project. The Community Information Center is also accessible by telephone at 215-748-5700. Information on all SEPTA service is available on this site or by telephone at 215-580-7800. |
