SEPTA Recommends Alternate Stations for Lansdale-Doylestown Passengers on Saturday

April 24, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Due to the Penn Relays and weekend shuttle busing in effect on the Lansdale-Doylestown (R5) Line between Doylestown and North Wales, SEPTA is encouraging passengers to consider traveling to Ambler, Fort Washington and North Wales Stations to board trains for service on Saturday.

Each of these stations has large parking facilities and passengers may park for free at SEPTA regional rail lots on weekends. (Passengers should be aware that this travel advisory is recommended for Saturday only — the final day of the Relays.)

SEPTA will have extra shuttle buses on standby throughout the day on Saturday to accommodate those passengers traveling between Doylestown and North Wales and regular Lansdale-Doylestown (R5) train service will operate into Center City Philadelphia from North Wales.

Passengers may also connect to additional train service at Glenside (Warminster Line – R2) and Jenkintown (West Trenton – R3) Stations.

Weekend shuttle bus service is necessary between Doylestown and North Wales to accommodate crews working to upgrade the railroad interlocking during the next four weekends.

Passengers traveling by shuttle buses should expect increased travel times and earlier departures than scheduled trains. Shuttle bus schedules have been posted at stations and are available online. Information on all SEPTA travel is also available by calling the SEPTA Customer Service Department at (215) 580-7800.
