Schedules Change Sunday for Most SEPTA Regional Rail Routes

May 3, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PASEPTA regional rail routes will operate with new schedules beginning Sunday, May 6. The new schedules include significant modifications to midday R5 (Paoli/Thorndale and Lansdale/Doylestown) weekday service as well as weekend modifications due to separate construction projects on both segments of the line.

The new schedules are currently available online. Passengers will also be able to pick up new timetables at Market-East, Suburban and 30th Street Stations and SEPTA sales offices.

Highlights for the upcoming changes include:

*Paoli/Thorndale & Lansdale/Doylestown (R5) – inbound and outbound off-peak train service will be adjusted to operate hourly on weekdays. In addition, most Paoli/Thorndale weekday peak hour service to Center City Philadelphia will operate earlier than on current schedules.

On weekends inbound (to Philadelphia) Paoli/Thorndale trains will leave up to 15 minutes earlier (except for the last two trains) and outbound trains will leave 11 minutes later (except for the final five trains) than current times. Passengers should review the new schedules and plan accordingly as there will also be weekend service adjustments to stations beyond Paoli.

Lansdale/Doylestown service will operate with shuttle buses between Doylestown and North Wales Stations on the weekends of May 5 & 6, May 12 & 13 and May 19 & 20. Passengers should be aware that the shuttle buses will operate with new times on Sunday when the schedules change. The new schedules for the shuttle buses will be posted at impacted stations.

*Wilmington/Newark (R2) – on weekdays the outbound (to Newark) train from Suburban Station scheduled to leave at 5:17 a.m. on current schedules will be modified to leave Suburban Station 10 minutes later at 5:27 a.m. and will operate express service from University City Station to Ridley Park Station. The train will then express from Ridley Park to the Chester Transportation Center. Also, the inbound train originating from Newark at 6:48 a.m. will stop at Ridley Park at 7:28 a.m.

*West Trenton (R3) – on weekdays the inbound (to Philadelphia) trains scheduled to leave West Trenton at 5:55 p.m. and 6:57 p.m. on current schedules will be revised to leave the station 10 minutes later at 6:05 p.m. and 7:07 p.m.

Passengers should be aware that Chestnut Hill East & Trenton (R7) as well as Chestnut Hill West & Fox Chase (R8) schedules changed in early April and will remain the same.
