Extra R6 Norristown Train Service Added for Sunday's Bike Race

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Thanks to SEPTA R6 Norristown train service bicycling enthusiasts can now quickly get to the famed “Manayunk Wall” without breaking a sweat on Sunday, June 10.

SEPTA will operate enhanced R6 Norristown service for spectators traveling to the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship in Manayunk.

The enhanced R6 Norristown local service will operate every half-hour instead of hourly from 7:48 a.m. until 4:48 p.m. between Elm Street in Norristown and Center City offering fans improved access to the competition.

R6 Norristown riders can travel from Market East Station in Center City Philadelphia to the “Wall” in Manayunk in about 15 minutes while a trip to Manayunk from the Norristown Transportation Center takes about 17 minutes aboard SEPTA trains.

For the convenience of passengers, SEPTA ticket offices at the Norristown Transportation Center and the East Falls regional rail station will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Also, there are close to 1,500 parking spaces in SEPTA lots along the R6 Norristown line.All SEPTA regional rail parking lots offer free parking on weekends.

SEPTA carried more than 3,700 additional spectators to the race last year on its R6 Norristown Line compared to typical Sunday ridership in June.
