New SEPTA R5 Lansdale-Doylestown Schedules Effective Aug. 12
August 9, 2007
PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA’s R5 Lansdale-Doylestown regional rail line will operate with new schedules beginning Sunday, August 12 due to an ongoing track renewal project.
This phase of the project, which will take place between Penllyn and Lansdale Stations, requires the continuation of hourly weekday R5 Lansdale-Doylestown train service during the midday.SEPTA originally modified service to operate hourly during the midday when the first phase of the project began in May.
In addition to hourly train service, SEPTA will alter platform boarding locations at stations from Pennlyn to Lansdale for midday weekday passengers. Also, riders traveling beyond Center City will be required to transfer to connecting trains in Center City with transfer times of up to 40 minutes depending on destination.
R5 Lansdale-Doylestown weekend passengers should obtain new schedules for information on specific train times, however, unlike weekday service all weekend trains will operate through Center City onto the R5 Paoli-Thorndale segment of the line.
When the project is completed in November, R5 Lansdale-Doylestown passengers will experience quieter train operations, increased travel speeds, reduced travel times and enhanced service reliability.
New R5 Lansdale-Doylestown schedules are available now at all Center City stations or online. In addition, SEPTA representatives will be available at affected stations along the R5 line to distribute information prior to the changes. Passengers will also find posters at stations and informational leaflets on trains notifying them of the upcoming changes. Passengers may call the SEPTA Customer Service Department at 215-580-7800 for all service information. |
