New Midday, Weekday R5 Lansdale-Doylestown Schedules

September 6, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA’s R5 Lansdale-Doylestown regional rail line will operate with a new supplemental weekday train schedule during the midday to accommodate an ongoing track renewal project. The schedules are effective Monday, September 10.

The new R5 Lansdale-Doylestown schedules will result in increased travel times of up to 21 minutes for passengers as departure times for trains leaving Doylestown Station have been altered during the midday.

R5 Lansdale-Doylestown train service will change as follows:

  • Inbound service (to Center City Philadelphia)
Midday service between Doylestown and Lansdale Stations will operate as a train shuttle providing hourly service from 8:43 a.m. until 2:43 p.m. During this period, trains will leave Doylestown Station 18 minutes earlier than current train times. Passengers traveling beyond Lansdale into Center City Philadelphia will transfer from the shuttle train to regular R5 train service at Lansdale.
  • Passengers should be aware that trains from Lansdale to Center City Philadelphia will also depart Lansdale Station hourly from 9:23 a.m. until 3:23 p.m.
  • Outbound service (to Lansdale/Doylestown)
Passengers will board regularly scheduled trains from Center City Philadelphia. Riders traveling beyond Lansdale, however, will transfer to the shuttle train to continue to Doylestown.

R5 Lansdale-Doylestown passengers should pick up the supplemental schedules for information on specific train times. The schedules are available now at all Center City stations or online. Passengers will also find informational leaflets on trains notifying them of the upcoming changes. Passengers may call the SEPTA Customer Service Department at 215-580-7800 for all service information.

SEPTA is renewing the track between Penllyn and Lansdale Stations during the project. At the completion of all work (scheduled for the end of November), passengers will enjoy a quieter, smoother, and more comfortable ride as well as increased travel speeds, reduced travel times, and enhanced service reliability.
