SEPTA Broad Street Line Service To Offer Direct Service To Scheduled Events At South Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment Complex This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA, PA – SEPTA Broad Street Line service will provide the most convenient and direct route to the varied events at the South Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment Complex this weekend, September 7-9.
Included among the events expected to attract thousands to the area are the “American Idol” concert on Friday, September 7, the Barry Manilow concert on Saturday, September 8, and the Philadelphia Phillies-Florida Marlins baseball series scheduled from Friday through Sunday, September 7-9.
Riders using the Broad Street Line will avoid parking fees and the expected traffic jams in the area and travel in air conditioned comfort directly to Pattison Station and the Sports and Entertainment Complex.
On Friday (September 7) SEPTA will add three special “Sports Express” trips to the regular Broad Street Line schedule for riders traveling to the American Idol concert scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center and the 7:05 p.m. Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park. The Sports Express trains will leave the SEPTA Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:08 p.m., 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m.
Saturday (September 8) is set to be an especially busy day at the Sports and Entertainment Complex with the Hero Thrill Show scheduled for the Wachovia Center at noon, the 1 p.m. Temple-Buffalo football game at Lincoln Financial Field, the 3:55 p.m. Phillies-Marlins game at Citizens Bank Park and the 8 p.m. Barry Manilow concert at the Wachovia Center.While regular express and local Broad Street Line service will be in operation about every ten minutes or less throughout the day special Broad Street Line Sports Express trains added expressly for the Phillies game will leave Fern Rock at 2:48 p.m., 2:58 p.m. and 3:08 p.m.
SEPTA will also operate Broad Street Line Sports Express service for the 1:35 p.m. Phillies game on Sunday (September 9) with trips leaving Fern Rock at 12:28 p.m., 12:38 p.m., and 12:48 p.m. en route to the sports complex.
Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race‑Vine, City Hall and Walnut‑Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station. The express trip from City Hall takes only about eight minutes. Local trains take only 11 minutes to travel to the Sports Complex from City Hall.
After the events, trains will be standing by to provide northbound service back to Fern Rock.
