SEPTA Broad Street Line Service In Action For Eagles-Lions Game On Sunday

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The SEPTA Broad Street Line will provide direct service to the action on Sunday, September 23 at Lincoln Financial Field when the Philadelphia Eagles fight the Detroit Lions and strive for their first victory of the 2007-2008 National Football League season.
The Broad Street Line provides direct service to the South Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment Complex and Lincoln Financial Field. Broad Street Line riders travel in air-conditioned comfort and avoid the parking fees and expected traffic jams in the area. About 9,800 football fans left their cars and used the Broad Street Line instead to travel to the Eagles-Washington Redskins Monday Night game on September 17.
Especially for the game on Sunday, scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff, Broad Street Line “Sports Express” trains added to the regular weekend schedule will leave Fern Rock Transportation Center every ten minutes from 10:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station and the Sports Complex.The express trip from City Hall to the Sports Complex takes only about eight minutes.In addition, local trains will also be in service about every 12 minutes throughout the day. Local trains take about 15 minutes to travel between City Hall and Pattison Stations.
To make the subway trip more convenient, SEPTA will open the lower level platform at Pattison Station before and after the game allowing for easier travel into and out of the station.
After the game fans will find trains standing by to provide local and express service back to Fern Rock.
In addition, Eagles fans driving into Center City can park at any one of five city-owned parking lots for only $5.00. There they can purchase a two-pack of SEPTA tokens ($2.60) and take the short walk to the Broad Street Line City Hall Station where they will be able to board scheduled southbound trains to the stadium.
