SEPTA to Operate Weekend R1 Airport Shuttle Bus Service
Shuttle Buses to Replace Train Service Due to Maintenance Project
November 8, 2007
PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA will operate shuttle bus service on the R1 Airport Line between 30th Street Station and Philadelphia International Airport during the weekend of November 10 & 11 due to a railroad maintenance project.
The shuttle buses are necessary in order to accommodate SEPTA workers who will be trimming trees and other operation-restricting vegetation from the overhead power lines and track area.
Shuttle buses will replace outbound and inbound train service and originate from University City and Eastwick Stations as follows:
*For outbound service (to the airport), passengers at Market East and Suburban Stations should board regular R1 trains to travel to 30th Street Station. Shuttle buses departing University City Station every 30 minutes (from 7:04 a.m. until 6:34 p.m.) will operate to 30th Street Station. At 30th Street Station, passengers will transfer to the shuttle buses for direct travel to Terminals A, B, C, D and E/F at the airport. The shuttle buses will then depart the airport for Eastwick Station. Regular R1 train service to the airport will resume with the 7 p.m. departure from Suburban Station.
*For inbound service (to Center City Philadelphia) , shuttle buses will depart Eastwick Station every 30 minutes (from 7:25 a.m. until 6:55 p.m.) and travel to Terminals A, B, C, D and E/F at the airport. The shuttle buses will then travel directly to 30th Street Station, where passengers can transfer to any SEPTA regional rail train, before departing for University City Station. Regular inbound R1 train service will resume with the 7:39 p.m. departure from the airport.
Passengers are advised to plan accordingly since the shuttle buses may increase travel times between the airport and Center City by an additional eight minutes and up to 22 minutes for passengers traveling to Eastwick.
Passengers may contact the SEPTA Customer Service Department at (215) 580-7800 for information on all SEPTA services or visit online.
