SEPTA To Open New High-Rise Parking Garage at Norristown Transportation Center
April 3, 2008
PHILADELPHIA, PA --SEPTA will open a new parking facility at the Norristown Transportation Center located at the corner of Dekalb and Lafayette Streets on Monday, April 7. SEPTA General Manager Joseph Casey will be on site to meet and greet commuters during the special opening event. Light refreshment will also be offered to commuters.
The new SEPTA NTC parking garage is fully ADA accessible and will include over 520 parking spaces, an increased parking capacity of up to 40% and will provide the convenience and amenities for customers to use SEPTA public transit as part of their daily commute.
The new four story facility will have clean, modern lines with stainless steel facades, glass-enclosed stair towers and features a similar type of self-serve payment system currently in use at the Frankford Transportation Center Garage. Riders will be able to pay by the day or purchase payment cards which can be reloaded for frequent visits at a lower cost per day.
At street level, the garage space will be leased to a private motor coach operator and will feature an enclosed waiting area. Additional landscaping and a permanent art installation will enhance community presence at NTC.
SEPTA service from the Norristown Transportation Center includes Bus Routes 90, 91, 93, 96, 97, 98, 99, and 131; the Route 100 Norristown High Speed Line; and the Norristown (R6) Regional Rail Line.
The Norristown Transportation Center parking facility project is part of a capital investment program to enhance customer amenities at SEPTA Regional Rail and Transit facilities through out the region.
