SEPTA Broad Street Line Sports Express Service Set For Flyers Playoff Contest At Wachovia Center

Thousands of Flyers/Phillies Fans to Compete for Limited Parking in Sports Complex Area

PHILADELPHIA, PA  – SEPTA will provide Broad Street Line “Sports Express” service on Tuesday (April 15) and Thursday (April 17), for the Philadelphia Flyers NHL Eastern Conference semi-final playoff home games against the Washington Capitals.

On Tuesday, April 15, the Flyers will drop the puck against the Capitals at the Wachovia Center while the Phillies are scheduled to take to the diamond against the Houston Astros at Citizens Bank Park. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. SEPTA will operate special Broad Street Line “Sports Express” trains scheduled to leave Fern Rock Transportation Center every ten minutes between 6:08 p.m. and 6:38 p.m., en route to Pattison Station and the Sports Complex.

Regardless of the team you are cheering for fans using the Broad Street Line will travel in climate controlled comfort, avoiding the expensive parking fees and expected traffic jams in the area of the South Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment complex.

On Thursday, April, 17, Broad Street Line Sports Express service will leave Fern Rock at 6:08 p.m. en route to Pattison Station and the Flyers 7 p.m. playoff game. Sports Express service will also operate for the Phillies/Astros “Business Persons Special” at 1:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park with trains leaving Fern Rock at 10:55 a.m., 11:03 a.m., 12:05 p.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Broad Street Line Sports Express trains will also operate on Wednesday (April 16) for the Phillies/Astros 7:05 p.m. game leaving Fern Rock at 6:08 p.m., 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m.

SEPTA Broad Street Line Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station at the South Philadelphia sports complex. The express trip from City Hall takes only about eight minutes. Local trains take only 11 minutes to travel to the sports complex from City Hall.

After the events local and express trains will be standing by to provide northbound service back to Fern Rock.
