From 'Start' To 'Finish' SEPTA Broad Street Line Set For 29th Annual Broad Street Run This Weekend
Sports Express Service Set for Phillies Baseball and Flyers Playoff Action

PHILADELPHIA, PA – On Sunday, May 4, the 29th Annual Blue Cross Broad Street 10-Mile Run will take to Philadelphia’s main thoroughfare, and SEPTA will offer every competitor a free ride on the Broad Street Line to the starting line at Broad & Somerville Streets en route to the finish line at the southern end of Broad Street.
Special northbound Broad Street Line express trains will operate for the scheduled 8:30 a.m. race from Pattison Station - near the finish line at the Philadelphia Naval Yard every ten minutes beginning at 5:35 a.m.until 8:24 a.m. and only make stops at Walnut/Locust and City Hall stations en route to Olney Transportation Center just a short walk from the race starting line. Regular local trains will also be in service throughout the day.
In addition, several SEPTA bus routes including Routes 17, 27, 32, 37 & C will be temporarily detoured from Broad Street from 8 a.m. until the conclusion of the race.
Runners must display their official competitor bib number to ride free. Over 18,000 runners tested their skill on the course last year.
Special Broad Street Line ‘Sports Express’ trains will also be in service for the Phillies weekend home stand against the San Francisco Giants.
For the 7:05 p.m. games at Citizens Bank Park on Friday (5/2) and Saturday (5/3) Sports Express trains will depart Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:08 p.m., 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m.
On Sunday (5/4), Sports Express trains will leave Fern Rock at 12:28 p.m., 12:38 p.m. and 12:48 p.m. for the 1:35 p.m. Phillies game. If necessary, the Flyers will resume playoff action with a 7:05 p.m. game at the Wachovia Center against the Montreal Canadians with trains leaving Fern Rock at 6:08 p.m. and 6:18 p.m.
Broad Street Line Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Avenue Station and the Sports Complex. The express trip from City Hall to the stadium takes only about eight minutes.
