May 2, 2008
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Ongoing construction of the Market-Frankford Line will result in evening road closures in the vicinity of 63rd & Market Streets for a period of approximately three weeks beginning Wednesday, May 7.
East and westbound traffic on Market Street will be restricted as no through traffic will be permitted to travel through the construction area on weeknights between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. during the three weeks.
Construction prep work will not require closure of 63rd Street intersection however may require staged lane closures on 63rd & Market Street for the north and south bounds traffic as crews remove paint from the El prior to the demolition of 63rd Street Station and the elevated structure above Market Street later this summer.
Workers will be in protective suits using hand vacuums to capture paint chips during the process. They will also use special equipment to monitor the air quality.

CIC is open Monday through Wednesday on the mezzanine level at 56th Street and from Thursday through Saturday at the Enterprise Center (4548 Market Street).
