Regular Market-Frankford Line Service to Operate Mother's Day Weekend

May 7, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA will operate regular Market-Frankford Line train service between 69th Street Terminal and the Frankford Transportation Center this weekend (May 9-11) to accommodate passengers traveling during Mother’s Day weekend.

Regular Market-Frankford Line train service will also be in operation during the Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25).

Shuttle buses have taken the place of train service between 40th Street Station and 69th St. Terminal during weekends of construction as work progresses on the Market Street Elevated (MSE) reconstruction project. The shuttle buses will return to this portion of the line next weekend (May 16-18).

MSE is in the final phase of rebuilding the western portion of the Market-Frankford Line between 46th & Market Streets in West Philadelphia and Millbourne in Delaware County. As a result of MSE, new stations have been constructed and are open for passenger services at 46th Street, 52nd Street, 56th Street, 60th Street. SEPTA will also open the new Millbourne Station next month while 63rd Street Station closes for construction.

When MSE is complete, the project will have replaced 11,000 feet of the guideway between Millbourne Station and 46th Street with a new single column bent structure which will open up Market Street and significantly improve the flow of traffic.

SEPTA information is available online or by calling (215) 580-7800.
