Shuttle Buses to Operate on Portion of R5 Lansdale-Doylestown Line

August 26, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA will operate shuttle buses on a portion of the R5 Lansdale-Doylestown Line over Labor Day weekend beginning Friday, August 29 due to bridge maintenance work near the Delaware Valley (Del Val) College train station.

The shuttle buses will begin operating at the start of service on Friday and replace trains between Doylestown and Del Val Stations through Monday, September 1. Regular train R5 train service between Doylestown and Del Val is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, September 2 with the first train departing Doylestown at 5:25 a.m.

The shuttle buses will operate as follows:

Inbound (to Philadelphia) – shuttle buses will leave Doylestown Station approximately 11 minutes earlier than regularly scheduled trains en route to Del Val College Station. At Del Val, passengers will then transfer to R5 trains that are scheduled to depart the station at normal times for travel into Center City Philadelphia.

Outbound (to Doylestown) – passengers will board regularly scheduled trains from Center City Philadelphia. Riders traveling beyond Del Val College, however, will transfer to shuttle buses to continue to Doylestown. The shuttle buses will depart Del Val College approximately five minutes later than regularly scheduled trains.

A special R5 Lansdale-Doylestown supplement with shuttle bus operating times is now available online. Passengers may also telephone the SEPTA Customer Service Department at (215) 580-7800 for additional information.
