REDUCED FARE CARD REQUESTS RISING
One of SEPTA's user-friendly services is the Reduced Fare Card program, which enables riders with disabilities (under 65 years of age) to ride SEPTA buses, the Market-Frankford El, Broad Street Subway and trolley cars for less than half price. Although primarily designed to encourage customers in wheelchairs and scooters to use regular bus service, more and more customers with other disabilities (blind/visual impairment, cognitive, etc.) are utilizing this service.
Through the first nine months of this year (January and September), the number of new applicants both male and female has increased over the same period last year (see table). There is also an increase in the number of customers requesting a replacement card over the same period (This could be for replacing a lost or stolen card or if a person was issued a temporary card because of an injury, etc. and their condition has not improved as originally indicated).
Call SEPTA Customer Service at 215-580-7800, or check the SEPTA website, www.septa.org for information on how to apply for a Reduced Fare Card. It's a great way to save money!
