Tip #13 - Spring Construction Projects

Chestnut Hill West/Fox Chase (R8) Line
Effective with the April 15, 2007 schedule change, midday departure times from Chestnut Hill West and Fox Chase stations changed. Train time adjustments on the Chestnut Hill West portion of the line now complement Chestnut Hill East midday service, offering customers additional travel options.
West Trenton (R3) Line
Beginning Monday, April 16, 2007 and continuing through Friday, May 25, 2007, single track service will be in effect between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. while SEPTA completes catenary work. Platform boarding locations will change at West Trenton and Yardley Stations during the construction week. Four shuttle bus service weekends are also planned beginning June 2nd. Please check station posters for details on current and upcoming service changes.
Paoli/Thorndale (R5) Line
New schedules will go into effect on Sunday, May 6, 2007 and Amtrak work moves to Track #1 to install concrete ties and continuous welded rail beginning on Monday, May 7th. Weekday, peak inbound service will operate from Track #2 between Paoli and Bryn Mawr Stations. Most but not all weekday, inbound train departure times will be earlier and some peak train service will be combined. Midday, weekday inbound and outbound service frequency will decrease to 60 minutes, and through travel customers from Thorndale/Paoli will need to transfer in Center City for connecting train service towards Doylestown. On weekends, inbound train service will depart earlier and outbound trains will depart later than the current schedule times to accommodate track work on the Lansdale/ Doylestown side of the line. In mid-July, work on Track #1 will move between Bryn Mawr and Overbrook Stations. please look for schedules, posters and leaflet information for complete details.
Lansdale/Doylestown (R5) Line
New schedules will go into effect on Sunday, May 6, 2007 and SEPTA will begin track and signal reconstruction work between Gwynedd Valley and Glenside on Monday, May 7th. Midday, weekday off-peak service frequency will decrease to 60 minutes, track boarding and exiting locations will change (please check station posting for details), and through travel customers from Doylestown/Lansdale will need to transfer in Center City for connecting train service towards Paoli. In mid-August, the midday, weekday track work will move between Gwynedd Valley and Lansdale Stations and a new timetable will be published.

There will also be four shuttle bus service weekends — April 28th/29th, May 5th/May 6th, May 12th/13th, & May 19th/20th between North Wales and Doylestown, as well as the weekend track work between Glenside and Gwynedd Valley scheduled to begin in early June. Look for special schedules and poster notices for the shuttle bus work.
