Tip #17 - Spring Rail Schedule Changes
 

On Sunday, March 23, 2008 new timetables will go into effect for all Regional Rail Lines 

Among the changes:

  • Six (6) New AM Express Service Trains
  • Train Departure Time Adjustments – Earlier & Later
  • Station Stop Changes
  • Train Number Changes
  • 1200 Additional Peak Period Seats to Ease Overcrowding
  • Schedule Adjustments Due to On-Going Track Work
The following are some highlights:

Combined – Warminster (R2)/West Trenton (R3)

  • AM Peak service (6:30-7:30 a.m.) will be adjusted with some trains departing earlier than the current schedule, express service changes including stop changes, and alterations in the number of trains for service between Glenside and Wayne Junction
  • Train #0211 express from Glenside will depart 2 minutes earlier and Train #0213 express from Jenkintown will depart 1 minute later
  • Train #313 from West Trenton will end at University City. Customers wishing to travel through to Elwyn should take Train #315
  • Train #315 will depart 8 minutes earlier between West Trenton and Jenkintown and then become an express to Temple Station
  • Train #4007 Express will depart 1 minute earlier from West Trenton. A new stop at Fern Rock Station is being added
  • Train #319 will depart 5 minutes earlier from West Trenton with new stops added at Elkins Park, Melrose Park, and Wayne Junction Stations
Elwyn (R3)
  • Train #4628, a new express train, will depart at 8:15 a.m. from Elwyn and will operate local service to Secane and then become an express to University City arriving at Suburban Station at 8:51 a.m.
  • Train #9342, will depart at 8:10 a.m. from Secane and will operate local service to Center City
  • Train #346 will depart 13 minutes later from Elwyn

Lansdale/Doylestown (R5)
  • Train #505 will depart 2 minutes later from Lansdale and will operate as a local to Glenside and then express to Temple. This train will not stop at Melrose Park, Fern Rock, or Wayne Junction
  • Train #509 will depart 3 minutes later from Lansdale and will operate as a local to Glenside and then express to Temple. This train will not stop at Melrose Park, Fern Rock, or Wayne Junction
  • Train #514 will depart 2 minutes earlier from Malvern to Lansdale
  • Train #4520 will arrive at Suburban Station 3 minutes later and at stations between Temple and Lansdale up to 9 minutes later. This train will serve North Broad Station
Trenton/Chestnut Hill East (R7)
  • Due to on-going track work, outside of 30th St Station, midday, weekday (10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.) trains traveling from 30th St to Chestnut Hill East will operate up to 10 minutes later than the current schedule time
  • Train #740 will depart 3 minutes earlier from Trenton and up to 7 minutes later between 30th St and Chestnut Hill East
  • Train #734 becomes Train #9734 and will only operate between Trenton and Temple Station
  • Train #4656 becomes Train #9756 and will depart 3 minutes later from Trenton
Fox Chase/Chestnut Hill West (R8)
  • Trains #826 and #828 will depart 1 minute later from Chestnut Hill West. At 30th St #828 will depart 11 minutes later and will arrive at Fox Chase 11 minutes later
  • Midday, weekday (10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.) service on 4 trains between Chestnut Hill and North Philadelphia will be altered as follows:
    • Train #830 will depart 7 minutes earlier and 3 minutes later between 30th St and Fox Chase
    • Train #832 and Train #834 will depart 10 minutes earlier
    • Train #838 will depart 11 minutes earlier
  • Train #811 will depart 2 minutes earlier between Fox Chase and 30th St
  • Train #4630 will depart at 9:07 a.m. from Chestnut Hill West. At 30th St the train will depart 10 minutes later for service to Norristown
