Tip #9 - Holiday Happenings

The appearance of winter scarves and gloves are a sure sign that the weather is changing. They are also a happy reminder that the holiday season is just around the corner, and we wanted to let you know about SEPTA service and special events for this time of joy and festivity.

On Thanksgiving Day, Regional Rail service will operate on a “Sunday” schedule, please consult your timetable or check the SEPTA website for route and service information so you won’t be late to Grandma’s or the parade in Center City. 

The SEPTA Santa Express
SEPTA’s popular Santa Express trains return on BIG Friday, November 24th.  Join the fun and enjoy a train ride into Center City with clowns, musicians and face painters, before meeting the big man himself – Santa Claus – at the Gallery at Market East. There will be two Regional Rail Santa Express Trains making all local stops – one departing Paoli (R5) at 9:10 a.m. and one departing Chestnut Hill West (R8) at 9:30 a.m.  Santa Express El trains will also depart from Frankford Transportation Center, 69th Street Terminal, and Broad Street Subway Fern Rock Station at 10:00 a.m. Look for flyers and information at stations.


Transit Store

Holiday Store Hours
November 25th - December 31st
Monday- Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A special holiday schedule will operate on Christmas Day and additional late night rail service will be available for New Years Eve revelers attending the fireworks.  Please look for these special holiday timetables at your Regional Rail Station or on the SEPTA website.

Rail Ticket Office hours will change during the holiday season with special hours at selected stations for the Thanksgiving Day parade and on Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please look for signs at your ticket office or check here.
