PassCheck SEPTA is concerned about protecting the investment of passengers who purchase SEPTA passes. As part of our PassCheck program, SEPTA asks riders to follow these guidelines to help our employees authenticate your fare instrument:
PassCheck is designed to identify, arrest and convict those attempting to defraud SEPTA. Persons attempting fraudulent use of SEPTA passes can be charged with Theft of Services under Pennsylvania Crimes Code. Persons attempting to use a copied or altered SEPTA pass can be charged with Forgery, a felony of the second degree under the Pennsylvania Crimes Code. A conviction of a second-degree felony carries a fine of up to $25,000 and up to 10 years imprisonment. SEPTA offers a reward of $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons using a copied, altered or counterfeit fare instrument and a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons selling fraudulent fare instruments. To report possible violations, call the SEPTA Tip Line at 215-580-7233. All calls are confidential.
