Gwynedd Valley Rock Stabilization

Complete soil and rock slope stabilization along the Gwynedd Cut, between Catenary Structure 20/20 and Catenary Structure 21/20 on the Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail Line, located between US Route 202 and West Prospect Avenue. The work will include storm water and erosion controls, and rock/slope stabilization. This area is subject to flooding, mud slides, and rock falls. Completion of this work will improve safety through the rock cut and permit SEPTA to increase operating speeds up to 70mph. The deepest portion of the rock cut was originally a tunnel. The roof of the tunnel was removed in the 1920's as part of the electrification of this line.
