Bike Racks at MFL and BSL Stations

July 8, 2015

Last week in the journal entry entitled "Turning Covered Bicycle Parking Plans into Reality" we described plans for rolling out the first installments of enhanced bicycle infrastructure on Regional Rail. This week we will focus on bicycle infrastructure improvements at Market-Frankford Line and Broad Street Line stations.

Because the City of Philadelphia owns the sidewalks that surround SEPTA Market-Frankford and Broad Street Line stations, SEPTA will need to work with the City for approval of racks at street level. Where space constraints make it difficult to add street level bicycle parking, SEPTA is evaluating the possibility of adding bicycle racks on the mezzanine level of stations.

The following is a list of Market-Frankford Line and Broad Street Line stations that are being considered for bicycle infrastructure enhancements in Phase I of the program.

Market-Frankford Stations
Berks Station
Girard Station
46th Street Station
52nd Street Station

Broad Street Line Stations
Oregon Station
Tasker-Morris Station
Spring Garden Station
Allegheny Station

SEPTA will continue to monitor bicycle rack utilization to help make decisions about bicycle infrastructure locations and design for future phases.
