8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Bus route 21, 40 and 42 riders will be detoured around Spruce Street between 34th Street and 40th Street for a student move in.

Westbound route 40 buses will continue travel on Walnut Street, and travel via 38th Street to resume normal routing; eastbound buses will operate on Baltimore Avenue, 38th Street/University Avenue, Convention Center Boulevard and 33rd Street before resuming its normal route.

Westbound route 21 and 42 buses will operate on University Avenue, Baltimore Avenue, 42nd Street and Spruce Street; eastbound buses will operate on 42nd Street, Baltimore Avenue and 38th Street/University Avenue before resuming its normal route.

Bus route 17, 33, 38 and 48 riders will be detoured around Market Street between 4th Street and 5th Street for construction work.

Westbound route 17 and 33 buses will on Arch Street between 3rd Street and 6th Street.

Eastbound route 17, 33 and 48 buses will operate on Chestnut Street between 6th Street and 3rd Street.

Eastbound route 38 buses will operate on Market Street between 7th Street and Independence Mall.

Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31, 2008
12:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Bus route XH riders will be detoured around the area of Ardleigh Street between Haines Street and Washington Lane.

Buses will operate on Chew Avenue, Upsal Street and Anderson Street before resuming its normal route back on Washington Lane.

7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The normal boarding location at Olney Transportation Center for the Route L will change as maintenance work is conducted.

Customers should board Route L buses at the Route 8 bus stop in the terminal area.

8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Bus route 23 riders will be detoured around the area of Germantown Avenue between Seymour Street and Coulter Street.

Northbound buses will operate on Berkley Avenue, Green Street and Schoolhouse Lane before resuming normal routing on Germantown Avenue.

Southbound buses will operate on Armat Street, Green Street, Berkley Street before resuming normal routing on Germantown Avenue.

8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Bus route G riders will be detoured around Cardinal & City Line Avenue for student move-in day.

Southbound buses will operate on 54th Street, Overbrook Avenue and Wynnefield Avenue to its normal route at 59th Street.

7:00 a.m. until the end of event

Bus route 25 riders will be detoured around S. Columbus Blvd. between Washington Avenue and Market Street for a neighborhood parade.

Northbound route 25 buses will operate on Reed Street, Front Street, Washington Avenue and 3rd Street to its normal route at Spring Garden.

Southbound route 25 buses will operate on Front Street, Fairmount Avenue, 2nd Street, Walnut Street, 4th Street, Washington Avenue, Front Street and Reed Street to its normal route at Columbus Blvd.

Monday, September 1, 2008
7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Bus route 64 riders will be detoured around Baltimore Avenue between 48th Street and 52nd Street for a neighborhood parade.

Buses will operate over Springfield Avenue between 48th and 49th Street.

63rd & Market Street Stop Discontinued

detour around the closed 63rd Street Station

Bus route 31 riders will be detoured around 63rd & Market Street as construction continues to rebuild the elevated portion of the Market-Frankford Line.

Buses traveling towards 76th Street & City Line Avenue will operate along 60th Street and Vine Street between Walnut Street and 63rd Street; bus service towards City Hall will operate along Vine Street and 60th Street between 63rd Street and Chestnut Street.

When the El is operating, customers will make connections with the Market-Frankford Line at 60th Street Station.  During an El shutdown, El Shuttle connections may be made at 60th & Chestnut or 60th & Walnut Street.

Market Street El Reconstruction
 
detour in effect over Walnut Street and Chestnut Street

Bus route 31 riders will be detoured around Market Street as construction continues to rebuild the elevated portion of the Market-Frankford Line.

Route 31 will continue its original detour routing along Chestnut Street, heading eastbound, and Walnut Street, heading westbound, between Farragut Avenue and 63rd Street.  This route includes a stop at the rebuilt, ADA-accessible 46th Street Station. 

Route 31S service is discontinued.  Customers using this service are encouraged to use the Market-Frankford El to 46th Street Station or the Route 64 bus.

Signs have been posted at all affected area bus stops and details of the service change is available to download.

Germantown Avenue Reconstruction
 
detour in effect over Mt. Airy Avenue, Stenton Avenue and East Willow Grove Avenue

Beginning January 21, 2008, northbound and southbound Route 23 bus service will be altered to accommodate ongoing PennDOT street and utility reconstruction work.   

The Route 23 bus currently operates as two separate routes, weekdays between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m.  Buses are operating between Germantown Avenue & Westview Street (Germantown Depot) to South Philadelphia.  Shuttle service will run between Chestnut Hill and Germantown & Westview (Germantown Depot).  Germantown Avenue and Westview Street will be the transfer point for customers traveling between the two bus segments.  Shuttle service is scheduled to operate every 15-20 minutes during the morning and afternoon rush hour, and every 30 minutes during off-peak times.  Between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. and on weekends, thru-bus service will operate with detour routing in effect.

Northbound Route 23 buses will detour from Germantown & Mt. Airy Ave. to Stenton Avenue to East Willow Grove Ave.  Normal northbound routing will resume at Germantown & East Willow Grove Ave.  Southbound Route 23 buses will detour from Germantown & East Willow Grove Ave. to Stenton Avenue to Mt. Airy Ave.  Normal southbound routing will resume at Germantown & Mt. Airy Avenue.

Signs are posted at the following new and existing locations where customers will be able to board and exit Route 23 buses:

  • Willow Grove at Wyndmoor
  • Willow Grove at Crittenden
  • Willow Grove at Stenton
  • Stenton at Mermaid Lane
  • Stenton at Woodbrook  
  • Stenton at Roumfort

  • Stenton at Mt Airy
  • Mt. Airy at Ardleigh
  • Mt. Airy at Chew

40th Street Bridge Detour

Due to structural conditions on the 40th Street Bridge, the City of Philadelphia Streets Department put weight restrictions into effect on January 8, 2007.  All trips on Routes 38 and 40 will operate with long-term detours. The detour routes have been revised as of Thursday, December 13, 2007.  More details...

These detours will continue until work is completed to rebuild the South Street and 40th Street Bridges.

South Street Bridge Detour

Due to structural conditions on the South Street Bridge, the City of Philadelphia Streets Department has put new weight restrictions into effect as of Monday, January 22, 2007.  This requires all SEPTA buses traveling over this structure to be detoured. 

Selected trips on Route 12 and all trips on Route 40 will operate with long term detours.  More details...
