MSE Construction Summer 2007 August 2007 El Shutdown Rider Guide Friday, August 10 - 8 p.m. through Monday, August 27 - 5 a.m. |
This is the second and last extended outage on the El this summer. Shuttle buses will substitute for El service.
This extended EL shutdown is scheduled to last 16 days starting on Friday, August 10, at 8 p.m. and continuing through Monday, August 27, at 5 a.m.
- During this time there will be NO EL service at 69th St, 63rd St, 60th, 56th St, or 52nd St Stations
- Shuttle buses will operate as an alternate to EL service
- 40th St Station will be the last stop on the El
- Millbourne and 46th St Stations are closed for reconstruction
How Will Service Change?
EL Shuttle Buses
- Shuttle buses will operate between 69th St Terminal and 40th St Station (See MSE Shuttle Bus Map for stops and routing)
- For travel towards 69th St, past 40th St, EXIT at 40th St and board the shuttle bus at the top of the stairs at 40th and Market
- Shuttle buses to 69th St will operate on Walnut St and buses to 40 St will travel on Chestnut St

- New EL shuttle stops have been added at 44th & Market Streets (east and westbound service) and at 48th Street at Walnut and Chestnut Streets
Routes 31, 52, and 64 Detours Routes 31, 52, and 64 will operate along 48th Street during the August EL shutdown.
- Route 31 riders can connect to/from the EL shuttle buses at 52nd and Walnut (westbound) or 52nd and Chestnut Streets (eastbound)
- Routes 52 and 64 riders can connect to/from the EL shuttle at 48th Street, at Walnut or Chestnut
Routes 108, 113, & 116 Boarding Location Changes
- Routes 108, 113, & 116 will board from the North Terminal at 69th St.
Routes 108 and 113 will board from the South Terminal.
Accessible Service for Disabled Riders
- Riders using mobility devices and those with mobility concerns will connect to/from the EL shuttle at the 30th St EL stop
- For westbound travel towards 69th St, tell the Cashier at the beginning of your trip the El Station you’re traveling to. They will arrange for a shuttle bus to meet you at the 30th St EL stop
- For eastbound travel towards 40th St board the EL shuttle at the designated EL shuttle bus stop. If you’re traveling past 40th St, tell the Operator or Supervisor when you board the bus and the shuttle will take you to 30th St for elevator access to the EL
