The El shutdown for the Market Street Elevated reconstruction project continues this weekend. Shuttle buses will substitute for El service.
UPDATED. This weekend, the intersection of 63rd & Market Street is closed and El shuttle buses will not stop at 63rd & Walnut or Market Street & Sellers Avenue. El Shuttles from 69th Street will begin stopping at 63rd & Chestnut Street; El Shuttles to 69th Street will stop at 62nd & Chestnut before operating straight to 69th Street
Keep handy this El Shutdown Weekend Train Schedule (PDF), providing scheduled train times between Frankford Transportation Center and 40th Street Station. El Shuttle bus service leaves immediately from 40th Street Station en route to 69th Street Terminal.
This weekend's El shutdown begins on Friday, June 20, at 8 p.m. and continues through Monday, June 23, at 5 a.m.
- During this time there will be NO El service at 69th Street, Millbourne, 60th Street, 56th Street, 52nd Street or 46th Street Station
- El Shuttle buses will operate as an alternate to regular El train service
- 40th Street Station will be the last stop on the El
- 63rd Street Station remains closed for reconstruction
How Will Service Change?
El Shuttle Buses
- El shuttle buses will operate between 69th Street Terminal and 40th Street Station
- For all travel beyond 40th Street, towards 69th Street Terminal, EXIT at 40th Street and board the El Shuttle at the top of the stairs at 40th & Market Street
- El shuttle buses towards 69th Street Terminal will operate along Walnut Street and El shuttle buses towards 40th Street will operate along Chestnut Street

Route 31 and Route 64 Detour
- Route 31 and Route 64 customers can connect to westbound El shuttle buses at Farragut & Walnut Street or eastbound El shuttle buses at Farragut & Chestnut Street
Accessible Service for Disabled Riders
- Customers using mobility devices or persons with mobility concerns can connect to El shuttle buses by exiting at 30th Street
- For westbound travel towards 69th Street Terminal, notify the cashier at the beginning of your trip if you are traveling beyond 30th Street. The cashier will arrange for an El Shuttle to meet customers at 30th Street
- For eastbound travel towards 40th Street, board the El Shuttle at a designated El Shuttle bus stop. For travel beyond 40th Street, notify the Bus Operator or a Bus Supervisor when boarding and an El Shuttle will be extended to 30th Street for elevator access to the easbound El towards Frankford
