SEPTA Ready to Ramp Up Regional Rail Service Next Week

Hourly Service On Most Lines As Region Enters 'Green Phase' of COVID-19 Reopening

With the region preparing to move into the Green Phase of Pennsylvania's COVID-19 reopening plan, SEPTA will begin increasing service frequency on the Regional Rail system next week.

Starting Monday, June 29, Regional Rail will run hourly weekday service on most lines, with the Airport and Paoli/Thorndale Lines operating every 30 minutes throughout the day. The Chestnut Hill West and Cynwyd Lines will remain suspended.

Through most of the COVID-19 crisis, Regional Rail service has operated only on selected lines, with service running every two hours.

"This is a significant step forward for SEPTA and our region as we work through the phases of COVID-19 recovery," said SEPTA General Manager Leslie S. Richards. "We are excited to see more customers returning, and we want to assure them that we are ready with safe and reliable service."

SEPTA has implemented a robust cleaning program, including twice-daily sanitizing of all vehicles, and around-the-clock cleaning, disinfecting and power-washing at all open stations. There is also a team of cleaners dedicated to wiping down and disinfecting high-touch surfaces. Customers are also being asked to continue to do their part and wear face coverings, which are required throughout the system.

SEPTA's Transit services, including buses, subways and trolleys, returned to regular schedules in May, with some station closures. As of Monday, all Market-Frankford Line, Broad Street Line and Trolley stations will be reopened except for 5th Street/Independence Hall on the Market-Frankford Line and Susquehanna-Dauphin on the Broad Street Line, which will be closed for construction into July.
