December 2020 Nor’easter

Midday, Wednesday, December 16 through Thursday, December 17, 2020

Changes in service, detours, and temporary suspensions will depend upon the track of the storm, the amount of snow our region receives, and wind conditions. From current reports, it is expected that the storm will not arrive until midday on Wednesday, December 16. At the beginning of this weather event, the snow fall is anticipated to be moderate with possible mixing of snow and ice. The most significant accumulations are expected during the overnight hours accompanied by windy conditions. SEPTA will closely monitor conditions and make adjustments in service as the storm rolls through our area. Please make note of the following:

Market Frankford/Broad Street Line Owl Service - Owl Bus service will temporary be suspended and trains will run in the overnight hours on Wednesday into Thursday. Please be alert for snow and ice on station stairways and wet platform areas. Click the following links to see the Market Frankford Owl and Broad Street Line Owl Train Schedules for Thursday, December 17.

Route 10, 11, 13, 34 & 36 Trolleys - The overnight closure of the Tunnel for maintenance and heavy cleaning will be temporarily cancelled Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

Norristown High Speed Line - Late night and overnight service will be suspended Wednesday evening to allow crews and equipment to clear the tracks and prepare the line for AM service beginning at 5;00 a.m. on Thursday. The last trip from 69th Street Transportation Center will depart at 10:10 p.m., and the final trip from Norristown Transportation Center is scheduled for 10:46 p.m.

Buses - Every effort will be made to continue normal operations. Those routes most often subject to detours or trip cancellations due to street and road conditions, may experience service disruptions.

CCT - Reservations may be limited to trips for dialysis, depending on weather conditions

Regional Rail - Depending on the weather, service will operate according to the schedule currently in effect for AM travel. Any changes in conditions including accumulating snow and high winds may require further changes.
